How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?


Thus shall ye speak to Hezeki´ah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.


Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways.


Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.


Is not Calno as Car´chemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?


Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.


Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:


For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will bring upon Tyrus Nebuchadrez´zar king of Babylon, a king of kings, from the north, with horses, and with chariots, and with horsemen, and companies, and much people.


Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth.


Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.


Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.
