For their heart was not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant.


With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.


A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.


The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.


The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.


They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the Lord.


Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.


For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.


Thou hast moreover multiplied thy fornication in the land of Canaan unto Chalde´a; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith.


Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.
