And Ahith´ophel said unto Ab´salom, Go in unto thy father's concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.


But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, whom Jez´ebel his wife stirred up.


And Jez´ebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jez´reelite.


And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak unto the king to hang Mor´decai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.


The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.


The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.


The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.


And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.


For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.


who, knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.


their feet are swift to shed blood:


And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
