He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.


To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;


For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.


For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, says the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that sneers at him.


Surely you will slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, you bloody men.


Now consider this, you that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.


For you are my hope, O Lord GOD: you are my trust from my youth.


He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.


When he avenges blood, he remembers them: he forgets not the cry of the humble.


For surely there is a future hope; and your expectation shall not be cut off.


So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto your soul: when you have found it, then there shall be a reward, and your hope shall not be cut off.


He has filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he has sent empty away.


And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be you poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.


Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to them that love him?
