And the LORD said unto Cain, Why are you angry? and why is your countenance fallen?


Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies: I flee unto you to hide me.


The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,


For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret place of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.


[A Psalm of David when he fled from Absalom his son.] LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.


You shall hide them in the secret of your presence from the pride of man: you shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.


They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.


Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloodthirsty men.


And a man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a refuge from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.


But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised plots against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.


Give heed to me, O LORD, and listen to the voice of them that contend with me.


Yet, LORD, you know all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from your sight, but let them be overthrown before you; deal thus with them in the time of your anger.


And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.


And desired a favor from him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, plotting to kill him along the way.
