And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray you, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.


And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had purposed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.


And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey, and arose, and got him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulcher of his father.


And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Are you made the king’s counselor? stop; why should you be killed? Then the prophet stopped, and said, I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this, and have not hearkened unto my counsel.


So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath abated.


Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till you find none.


Because they rebelled against the words of God, and the counsel of the most High:


Arise, O LORD, confront him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, by your sword:


Let the lying lips be put to silence; who speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.


Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at my hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonor that magnify themselves against me.


Let death seize upon them, and let them go down alive into the grave: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.


He rules by his power forever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.


Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonor that seek my hurt.


And render unto our neighbors sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, with which they have reproached you, O Lord.


Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD has spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
