In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.


To overthrow their descendants also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.


Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.


[To the Chief Musician upon shushaneduth. A michtam of David to teach; when he fought with Aramnaharaim and with Aramzobah, when Joab returned and smote of Edom in the Valley of Salt twelve thousand.] O God, you have cast us off, you have scattered us, you have been displeased; O turn yourself to us again.


But you, O LORD, know me: you have seen me, and tested my heart toward you: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.


Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, where I have driven them in my anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:


As a shepherd seeks out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered on a cloudy and dark day.


And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.


As it is written, For your sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.


And the LORD shall scatter you among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there you shall serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known, even wood and stone.


And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and you shall be left few in number among the nations, where the LORD shall lead you.


And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of plunderers that plundered them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
