Thus they changed their glory into the image of an ox that eats grass.


You have shamed the counsel of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge.


Why do the nations rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?


But you, O LORD, are a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of my head.


I have hated them that regard vain idols: but I trust in the LORD.


You shall destroy them that speak falsehood: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.


And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.


My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.


[To the Chief Musician, altaschith. A michtam of David.] Do you indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do you judge uprightly, O you sons of men?


The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.


But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that swears by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.


He shall judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice.


And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.


How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? and the scoffers delight in their scoffing, and fools hate knowledge?


Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.


This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.


And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their hope, and of Egypt their glory.


But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: you shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.


None calls for justice, nor does any plead for truth: they trust in empty words, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.


Has a nation changed its gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.


Thus says the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they have gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?


And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, says the LORD.


As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.


They that regard vain idols forsake their own mercy.


And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people despise me? and how long will it be before they believe me, with all the signs which I have shown among them?


And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.


That, according as it is written, He that glories, let him glory in the Lord.


Therefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.


And turn you not aside: for then should you go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.
