And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they both made a treaty together.


Take heed now; for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.


And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.


And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for which I have made provision.


[A song of ascents.] In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.


[A song of ascents.] I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from which comes my help.


[A song of ascents. Of David.] I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.


[A song of ascents.] Unto you I lift up my eyes, O you that dwell in the heavens.


[A song of ascents. Of David.] If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;


[A song of ascents.] They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abides forever.


[A song of ascents.] When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.


[A Psalm of Solomon.] Give the king your judgments, O God, and your righteousness unto the king's son.


And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he has established forever.


A man's heart plans his way: but the LORD directs his steps.


I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happens to them all.


The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw you him whom my soul loves?


The watchmen that went about the city found me, they struck me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me.


I the LORD do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.


His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.


I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem, who shall never hold their peace day nor night: you that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence.


Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD has both purposed and done that which he spoke against the inhabitants of Babylon.


One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the king of Babylon that his city is taken on every side,


And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.


So then neither is he that plants anything, neither he that waters; but God that gives the increase.


I am afraid for you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain.


But you shall remember the LORD your God: for it is he that gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore unto your fathers, as it is this day.


And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in here tonight of the children of Israel to search out the country.
