Gather yourselves together, and hear, you sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.


Come, you children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.


To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;


My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother:


A wise son hears his father's instruction: but a scoffer hears not rebuke.


Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days.


Bow down your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart unto my knowledge.


My son, be attentive to my wisdom, and incline your ear to my understanding:


Say unto wisdom, you are my sister; and call understanding your kinswoman:


Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he has charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;


Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
