Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, him will I cut off: he that has a haughty look and a proud heart will I not endure.


[A song of ascents. Of David.] LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.


A haughty look, a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.


A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,


The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.


Moreover the LORD says, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking and tripping as they go, and making a jingling with their feet:


And man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:


Will you yet say before him that slays you, I am a god? but you shall be a man, and no god, in the hand of him that slays you.


Behold, his soul which is proud is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
