So Hathach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king's gate.


And Hathach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.


The wicked prowl on every side, when vile men are exalted.


In whose eyes a vile person is despised; but he honors them that fear the LORD. He that swears to his own hurt, and changes not.


[To the Chief Musician, a maschil. A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech.] Why boast you yourself in evil, O mighty man? the goodness of God endures continually.


Excellent speech becomes not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.


Luxury is not fitting for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.


A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the fool's back.


As he that binds a stone in a sling, so is he that gives honor to a fool.


The prince that lacks understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hates covetousness shall prolong his days.


But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.


And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, you men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.
