Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.


And he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had made known to him the people of Mordecai: therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.


A fool's wrath is at once known: but a prudent man covers shame.


A good man obtains favor of the LORD: but a man of wicked intentions will he condemn.


A wise man fears, and departs from evil: but the fool rages, and is confident.


The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.


He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalts folly.


A wrathful man stirs up strife: but he that is slow to anger quiets strife.


He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.


It is an honor for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.


Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man you shall not go:


An angry man stirs up strife, and a furious man abounds in transgression.


A heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to evil,


Be not hasty in your spirit to be angry: for anger rests in the bosom of fools.


The schemes also of the schemer are evil: he devises wicked plans to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaks justly.


Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger:
