A good man shows favor, and lends: he will guide his affairs with discretion.


Wisdom rests in the heart of him that has understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.


The tongue of the wise uses knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools pours out foolishness.


A fool has no delight in understanding, but that his heart may express itself.


Proud and haughty scoffer is his name, who deals in arrogant pride.


The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is wicked madness.


Yea also, when he that is a fool walks by the way, his wisdom fails him, and he says to every one that he is a fool.


Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.


Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.


For your obedience is well known unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and innocent concerning evil.


Brethren, be not children in understanding: but in malice be children, but in understanding be men.


Therefore be not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.


Now therefore know and consider what you will do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he is such a son of Belial, that a man cannot speak to him.


Let not my lord, I pray you, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I your handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom you did send.
