Like as a lion that is greedy of its prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.


For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have dug for my soul.


They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.


For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.


And they lie in wait for their own blood; they lurk secretly for their own lives.


The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.


Lie not in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:


Whosoever is partner with a thief hates his own soul: he hears cursing, and reveals it not.


There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.


But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised plots against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.


For among my people are found wicked men: they lie in wait, as he that sets snares; they set a trap, they catch men.


The godly man has perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.


But this comes to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.


Now therefore you with the council inform the chief captain that he bring him down unto you tomorrow, as though you would inquire something more exactly concerning him: and we, before he comes near, are ready to kill him.


And desired a favor from him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, plotting to kill him along the way.
