But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.


For all this they sinned still, and believed not despite his wondrous works.


And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest perhaps the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:


And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.

And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, who come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.


And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!


Nevertheless you would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:


And you returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.


Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then you rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and you believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.


Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.


Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
