And the LORD struck the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house. And Jotham the king’s son was over the house, judging the people of the land.


He has made me also a byword of the people; and I was as one before whom men spit.


They abhor me, they flee far from me, and hesitate not to spit in my face.


I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked out the beard: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.


If the bright spot is white in the skin of his flesh, and in sight is not deeper than the skin, and the hair thereof is not turned white; then the priest shall shut him up that has the disease seven days:


And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean: and after that he shall come into the camp, but shall stay outside of his tent seven days.


And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,


Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others struck him with the palms of their hands,


Then shall his brother's wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother's house.


Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
