And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: therefore he slew him also.


And when the mourning was past, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.


And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume you and your fifty men. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.


While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God has fallen from heaven, and has burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I alone am escaped to tell you.


And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.


Therefore the LORD heard this, and was angry: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;


The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.


And in the morning, then you shall see the glory of the LORD; for he hears your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that you murmur against us?


And Moses spoke unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he has heard your murmurings.


And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;


For Tophet was ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he has made it deep and large: its pyre is fire with much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, does kindle it.


The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness has surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?


Why does a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?


Like I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I enter into judgment with you, says the Lord GOD.


And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.


The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell in it.


Before him went the pestilence, and burning fever went forth at his feet.


And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days' journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days' journey, to search out a resting place for them.


And say unto the people, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat flesh: for you have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and you shall eat.


And they said, Has the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? has he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.


And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!


Because all those men who have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put me to the test now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;


How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.


Say unto them, As truly as I live, says the LORD, as you have spoken in my ears, so will I do to you:


For which cause both you and all your company are gathered together against the LORD: and what is Aaron, that you murmur against him?


And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.


And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against you.


And the people spoke against God, and against Moses, Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loathes this worthless bread.


Neither murmur you, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.


How he met you by the way, and attacked those behind you, even all that were feeble behind you, when you were faint and weary; and he feared not God.


For a fire is kindled in my anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with its increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.


And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, you provoked the LORD to wrath.


For our God is a consuming fire.


Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, cries: and the cries of them who have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts.


These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks great swelling words, holding men in admiration for the sake of advantage.
