In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.


If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, You are my confidence;


Surely every man walks in a vain show: surely they are in turmoil in vain: he heaps up riches, and knows not who shall gather them.


Trust not in oppression, and hope not vainly in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.


If a thief be found breaking in, and be smitten that he dies, there shall no blood be shed for him.


Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivers from death.


How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!


For God gives to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he gives the work of gathering and heaping up, only that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping of the wind.


Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.


Jesus said unto him, If you will be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.


But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:


So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.


Sell what you have, and give alms; provide yourselves purses which grow not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts.


And this know, that if the owner of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have allowed his house to be broken through.


Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet you lack one thing: sell all that you have, and distribute unto the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.


And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hard it is for those that have riches to enter into the kingdom of God!


Charge them that are rich in this present age, that they be not haughty, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;


Let your conduct be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: for he has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you.
