When any one hears the word of the kingdom, and understands it not, then comes the wicked one, and catches away that which was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the way side.


The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;


For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:


Neither shall you swear by your head, because you can not make one hair white or black.


And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.


I pray not that you should take them out of the world, but that you should keep them from the evil.


You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.


Therefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.


Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.


Lie not one to another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds;


Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man.


But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.


But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest you fall under judgment.


I write unto you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because you have known the Father.


Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And why slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.


We know that whosoever is born of God sins not; but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and that wicked one touches him not.
