To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.


Now, lo, if he begets a son, that sees all his father’s sins which he has done, and considers, and does not the same,


I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.


And honors not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have you made the commandment of God void by your tradition.


And you allow him no more to do anything for his father or his mother;


And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:


For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands often, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.


Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not your disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?


And he said unto them, Full well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition.


And advanced in the Jews' religion above many of my equals in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.


Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of which I tell you beforehand, as I have also told you in time past, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.


Not giving heed to Jewish myths, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
