When Jesus knew it, he said unto them, Why trouble you the woman? for she has worked a good work unto me.


And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Teacher says, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at your house with my disciples.


While he spoke these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshiped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay your hand upon her, and she shall live.


And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?


And, behold, there came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,


While he yet spoke, there came one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, your daughter is dead; trouble not the Teacher.


Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.


Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:


And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Teacher is come, and calls for you.


Then when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.


Jesus said, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, said unto him, Lord, by this time he stinks: for he has been dead four days.


Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
