From men by your hand, O LORD, from men of the world, who have their portion in this life, and whose belly you fill with your hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.


Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.


Trust not in oppression, and hope not vainly in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.


He that trusts in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.


The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and like a high wall in his own esteem.


Will you set your eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.


Thus says the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:


Woe to him that covets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of ruin!


Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.


When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?


And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.


And Jesus looked round about, and said unto his disciples, How hard for those that have riches to enter into the kingdom of God!


And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.


Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Where I go, you cannot come; so now I say to you.


Then Jesus said unto them, Children, have you any fish? They answered him, No.


Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it?


My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,


Charge them that are rich in this present age, that they be not haughty, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;


My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:


You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.


Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.


Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and know not that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
