Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.


From men by your hand, O LORD, from men of the world, who have their portion in this life, and whose belly you fill with your hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.


Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue forever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.


Their eyes stand out with abundance: they have more than heart could wish.


Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths.


In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.


Saying, Sir, we remember that this deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.


And if your foot offends you, cut it off: it is better for you to enter lame into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:


And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores,


And in hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and seeing Abraham far off, and Lazarus in his bosom.


And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they who would pass from here to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from there.


But woe unto you that are rich! for you have received your consolation.


These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.


Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.


Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.


Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading-trough.


Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)


That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for you yourselves know that we are appointed unto this.


Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a time;


Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.


And I said unto him, Sir, you know. And he said to me, These are they who came out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
