And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)


You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.


Now it came to pass, when Adonizedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;


Come up unto me, and help me, that we may attack Gibeon: for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.


There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, except the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all others they took in battle.


And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a covenant with them, that they heard that they were their neighbors, and that they dwelt among them.
