And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which is by the wilderness.


And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.


These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,


Chief Dishon, chief Ezer, chief Dishan: these are the chiefs that came of Hori, among their chiefs in the land of Seir.


Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.


Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:


Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spoke unto me: and we went around mount Seir many days.


And command the people, saying, You are to pass through the territory of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take you good heed unto yourselves therefore:


Even from the mount Halak, that rises up toward Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon below mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and struck them, and slew them.


So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.


And the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed completely over Jordan.


And it came to pass, when all the kings who were on this side of Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea toward Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard of it;
