My soul is also greatly troubled: but you, O LORD, how long?


For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draws near unto the grave.


What shall I say? he has both spoken unto me, and he himself has done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.


He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.


At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them unto babes.


Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in your sight.


He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, your will be done.


Then came he to his disciples, and said unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.


And being in agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.


When I was daily with you in the temple, you stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.


Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank you that you have heard me.


And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.


When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.


Pilate therefore said unto him, Are you a king then? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears my voice.


This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.


Since then the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;


Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
