Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead; and you know that your servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor has come to take unto him my two sons to be slaves.


Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.


For you have taken a pledge from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.


They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaves from the hungry;


They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.


Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.


Yea, you overwhelm the fatherless, and you dig a pit for your friend.


The LORD will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and its princes: For you have eaten up the vineyard; the plunder of the poor is in your houses.


If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and makes merchandise of him, or sells him; then that thief shall die; and you shall put evil away from among you.
