Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark you now when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Strike Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.


And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:


While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone am escaped to tell you.


And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I alone am escaped to tell you.


And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one on his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.


He breaks me with breach upon breach, he runs upon me like a warrior.


Even today is my complaint bitter: my hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.


If his children are multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.


If your children have sinned against him, and he has cast them away for their transgression;


Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivers him out of them all.


All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrifices, and to him that sacrifices not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that swears, as he that fears an oath.


From the time that it goes forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a terror just to understand the report.


One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the king of Babylon that his city is taken on every side,


Is it nothing to you, all you that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, which the LORD has afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.
