And Sheva was scribe: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:


And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;


And he built the inner court with three rows of hewn stone, and a row of cedar beams.


However the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD.


Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rab-shakeh.


And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying,


When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king’s house unto the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entrance of the new gate of the LORD’S house.


Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.


By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,


And I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, who was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door:


When Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of the LORD,


Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the scroll: but he would not hear them.


Therefore go you, and read in the scroll, which you have written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD’S house upon the fasting day: and also you shall read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.


And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the LORD in the LORD’S house.


But Baruch the son of Neriah sets you against us, to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into Babylon.


He took also out of the city a eunuch, who had charge of the men of war; and seven men of them that were the king’s counsel, who were found in the city; and the principal scribe of the army, who mustered the people of the land; and threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city.


And the chambers and its entrance were by the posts of the gates, where they washed the burnt offering.
