And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease became severe: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.


With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people encouraged themselves by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.


For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.


Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: if laid on the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.


Turn away from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for of what account is he?


And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their hope, and of Egypt their glory.


Lo, you trust in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.


Yea, truth fails; and he that departs from evil makes himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.


And say you unto them, Thus says the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeys not the words of this covenant,
