He comes forth like a flower, and is cut down: he flees also as a shadow, and continues not.


My days are like a shadow that declines; and I am withered like grass.


As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourishes.


For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.


Surely every man walks in a vain show: surely they are in turmoil in vain: he heaps up riches, and knows not who shall gather them.


The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is as the flower of the field:


The grass withers, the flower fades: because the breath of the LORD blows upon it: surely the people are grass.


For thus says the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.


For all those things has my hand made, and all those things have been, says the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at my word.


Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.


Therefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?


And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passes away.


Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but rubbish, that I may win Christ,


Charge them that are rich in this present age, that they be not haughty, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;


Whereas you know not what shall be tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.


For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away:


And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides forever.
