Now, behold, you trust upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust in him.


Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.


Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.


And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their hope, and of Egypt their glory.


And the inhabitant of this coastland shall say in that day, Behold, such is our hope, to which we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: how then shall we escape?


Lo, you trust in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.


Why gad you about so much to change your way? you also shall be ashamed of Egypt, as you were ashamed of Assyria.


For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As my anger and my fury has been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when you shall enter into Egypt: and you shall be an oath, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more.


Now therefore know certainly that you shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place where you desire to go and to sojourn.


The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, says; Behold, I will punish Amon of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings: even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him:


When they took hold of you by your hand, you did break, and tear all their shoulders: and when they leaned upon you, you broke, and made all their backs to shake.


It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.


For the scripture says, Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.


And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who is given unto us.
