Now, behold, you trust upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust in him.


Turn away from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for of what account is he?


Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your humiliation.


They were all ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be a help nor a profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.


For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I called her, Rahab who sits still.


Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and rely on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!


Lo, you trust in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.


How then will you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?


And he heard concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, He has come forth to make war with you. And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,


Thus says the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the LORD.


The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, says; Behold, I will punish Amon of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings: even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him:


And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, which brings their iniquity to remembrance, when they shall look after them: but they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.


Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was without limit; Put and Lubim were your helpers.


You Ethiopians also, you shall be slain by my sword.


Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
