And she put her widow's garments off from her, and covered herself with a veil, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him as wife.


And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bore Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.


So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.


And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in confinement, and fed them, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, living in widowhood.


And David spoke unto the LORD when he saw the angel that struck the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let your hand, I pray you, be against me, and against my father’s house.


But now it is come upon you, and you faint; it touches you, and you are troubled.


Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.


You also, who have judged your sisters, bear your own shame for your sins that you have committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than you: yea, be disgraced also, and bear your shame, in that you have justified your sisters.


You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and can not look on iniquity: why do you look upon them that deal treacherously, and hold your tongue when the wicked devours the man that is more righteous than he?


Bring forth therefore fruits befitting for repentance:


And they who heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing before him.


The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.


Now we know that whatsoever things the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.


And he said to David, you are more righteous than I: for you have rewarded me with good, whereas I have rewarded you with evil.


And you have shown this day how that you have dealt well with me: for when the LORD had delivered me into your hand, you killed me not.
