And Jacob said, Sell me this day your birthright.


And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he swore unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.


And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he has supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he has taken away my blessing. And he said, Have you not reserved a blessing for me?


What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?


Who said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do to us?


For he has said, It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.


For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challenges to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbor.


You have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked in mourning before the LORD of hosts?
