And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.


If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon moving in brightness;


When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?


Praise him, sun and moon: praise him, all you stars of light.


Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.


Its going forth is from the end of the heaven, and its circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.


The day is yours, the night also is yours: you have prepared the light and the sun.


When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained;


For the stars of heaven and its constellations shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in its going forth, and the moon shall not cause its light to shine.


Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his elders gloriously.


Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who has created these things, that brings out their host by number: he calls them all by names by the greatness of his might, for he is strong in power; not one is missing.


I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create calamity: I the LORD do all these things.


Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the fixed order of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who divides the sea when its waves roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:


The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of your arrows they went, and at the shining of your glittering spear.


Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:


Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.


There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differs from another star in glory.


And lest you lift up your eyes unto heaven, and when you see the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, should be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD your God has apportioned unto all nations under the whole heaven.


And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God is its light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
