And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.


And the LORD was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.


How often did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!


Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:


You have bought me no sweet cane with money, neither have you filled me with the fat of your sacrifices: but you have made me to serve with your sins, you have wearied me with your iniquities.


But they rebelled, and grieved his holy Spirit: therefore he turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.


And he said, Hear you now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also?


Because you have not remembered the days of your youth, but have enraged me in all these things; behold, therefore I also will recompense your way upon your head, says the Lord GOD: and you shall not commit this lewdness in addition to all your abominations.


I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be your plagues; O grave, I will be your destruction: pity shall be hid from my eyes.


And when he had looked around at them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he said unto the man, Stretch forth your hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.


And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near.


He that has received his testimony has set his seal to this that God is true.


You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do you.


But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also bring to life your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you.


And not only they, but ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, that is, the redemption of our body.


And of him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:


So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.


Of how much worse punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done insult unto the Spirit of grace?


Therefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.


But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?


And they put away the foreign gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
