Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus who reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over a hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)


Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, their captains, and all their rulers, and all the land of their dominion.


Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.


Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the satraps, the administrators, and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates, and all the officials of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.


And Darius the Mede took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.


And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the satraps might give accounts unto them, and the king should suffer no loss.


In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the descendants of the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;


Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
