When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there had come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.


But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spoke against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.


Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoics, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? Others, He seems to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.


And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.


Except it be for this one thing, that I cried standing among them, Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.


That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should proclaim light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.


Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?


And killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead; of which we are witnesses.


Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,


But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also bring to life your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you.


But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
