John bore witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that comes after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.


John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there stands one among you, whom you know not;


He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's thong I am not worthy to unloose.


The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.


For John truly baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.


Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how he said, John indeed baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.
