And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.


And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest all around from all his enemies;


That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains.


And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bore burdens, and fourscore thousand quarried stone in the mountains;


And Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders did hew them, and the men of Gebal: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.


Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him a house.


They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and food, and drink, and oil, unto them of Sidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea to Joppa, according to the grant that they had from Cyrus king of Persia.
