Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.


Now Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king’s heart went out toward Absalom.


And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.


He makes my feet like hinds’ feet: and sets me upon my high places.


Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,


Moreover you know also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the armies of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner, and unto Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his belt that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.


Also the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,


And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David at the stronghold in the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the gazelles upon the mountains;
