And David said, What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?


So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.


Then was Abner very angry because of the words of Ish-bosheth, and said, Am I a dog’s head, which against Judah does show kindness this day unto the house of Saul your father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered you into the hand of David, that you charge me today with a fault concerning this woman?


And he bowed himself, and said, What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I am?


You shall not revile God, nor curse the ruler of your people.


And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, will you that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did?


Then said Paul, I knew not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, You shall not speak evil of the ruler of your people.


Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.


After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom do you pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.
