And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and there fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.


And if so be that the king’s anger arises, and he says unto you, Why approached you so near unto the city when you did fight? knew you not that they would shoot from the wall?


So the messenger went, and came and told David all that Joab had sent him for.


And when Abner had returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and struck him there under the fifth rib, so that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.
