But Abishai the son of Zeruiah aided him, and struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David swore unto him, saying, You shall go no more out with us to battle, that you quench not the light of Israel.


But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before you.


And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you: your throne shall be established forever.


Nevertheless in your days I will not do it for David your father’s sake: but I will tear it out of the hand of your son.


However I will not tear away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to your son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.


And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen to put my name there.


But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king’s sons who were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.


For I will defend this city, to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.


Yet the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons forever.


For your servant David's sake turn not away the face of your anointed.


There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.


For I will defend this city to save it for my own sake, and for my servant David's sake.


Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.


I will not execute the fierceness of my anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of you: and I will not enter into the city.
