By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, says the LORD.


Behold, I will send a spirit upon him, and he shall hear a rumor, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.


Who can remove the face of his garment? or who can approach him with a double bridle?


Can you put a rope in his nose? or pierce his jaw through with a hook?


Be you not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, else they come not near unto you.


The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.


Who stills the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.


Arise, O LORD, in your anger, lift up yourself because of the rage of my enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that you have commanded.


Forget not the voice of your enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against you increases continually.


Your enemies roar in the midst of your congregations; they set up their banners for signs.


For, lo, your enemies make a tumult: and they that hate you have lifted up the head.


And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.


And they put him in a cage in chains, and brought him to the king of Babylon: they brought him in restraint, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.


But I will put hooks in your jaws, and I will cause the fish of your rivers to stick to your scales, and I will bring you up out of the midst of your rivers, and all the fish of your rivers shall stick to your scales.


Thus with your mouth you have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.


And I will turn you back, and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you forth, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armor, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:


The Lord GOD has sworn by his holiness: Lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.


And they were filled with fury; and discussed one with another what they might do to Jesus.


If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before it hated you.


You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do you.
