For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.


Therefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they defeated him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who defeated him with a great slaughter.


Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?


The burden concerning Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.


And Elam bore the quiver with chariots of men and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield.


Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries.


For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that you dread shall be forsaken by both her kings.


The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with hewn stones: the sycamores are cut down, but we will replace them into cedars.


Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;


Are you not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? says the LORD. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?
