And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Uriah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.


And when the king had come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.


And he brought also the bronze altar, which was before the LORD, from the front of the house, from between the altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar.


Thus did Uriah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.


And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.


And he set a graven image of the idol pole that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name forever:


Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be forever.


And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.


For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, says the LORD.


Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned my holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and the common, neither have they shown difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.


Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, psaltery, and all kinds of music, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.


My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no priest to me: because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.


Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after a human commandment.


For do I now seek the favor of men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
