He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings shall you trust: his truth shall be your shield and buckler.


Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation.


And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.


Then shall you say in your heart, Who has begotten for me these, since I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and moving to and fro? and who has brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?


Who is among you that fears the LORD, that obeys the voice of his servant, that walks in darkness, and has no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and rely upon his God.


Sing, O barren, you that did not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you that did not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, says the LORD.


From above has he sent fire into my bones, and it prevails against them: he has spread a net for my feet, he has turned me back: he has made me desolate and faint all the day.


And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;


And shall not God avenge his own elect, who cry day and night unto him, though he bears long with them?


And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, who departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.


Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.


And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.


Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.


And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.


That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.


By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:


But I would have you without concern. He that is unmarried cares for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:


There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married cares for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.


Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thus with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;


Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.


I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;


If any man or woman that believes has widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.


Honor widows that are widows indeed.


I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of you in my prayers night and day;


For after this manner in former times the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:


The LORD recompense your work, and a full reward be given you of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to trust.
